Baseball Is Over :(

The boys played their hearts out to the hardest team Sunday afternoon and won the first game. It was single elimination, so they went on to play another team 15 minutes after the first. It was so hot I don't know how they even managed to stand up for a second game let alone play.

Luke hit a triple and just about had me in tears. I think if he could run faster he would have made a home run. It was a beautiful hit.

The score was up and down but the Windermere Braves, who we gave one game to during the regular season and beat really bad during the playoffs, won the game. It was such a sad loss considering all the Windermere Pirates had put into these games. They had played something like 8 games in 6 days. They were spent.

In the dugout after the game, the boys were all in tears. It was a devestating loss to the whole team and their fans. It was all I could do not to hold them all and cry myself. Luke told us later that he was not only crying because they lost but because the season was over and the Pirates team was not going to play together again. They had all formed some great friendships and strengthened previous friendships.

We took them to a local sports bar and grill to let off some steam. This helped their mood tremendously. Nothing like a rootbeer and some video games to heal a young boys heart.

This Saturday is our team party. We are hosting it at our house. The boys will be able to swim and play more baseball and the parents can reminisce about all the great plays their boy made. Let's not forget the trophies and the Windermere Little League Champion T-shirts that will be handed out!

Tell Luke a lot of us in blogger land were rooting for the team. I'm sorry to hear about the loss. What a tough one!

Enjoy the party!

Wow - what a ride! Thanks for sharing all the play-by-plays. Luke can hold his head high and know that he truly gave it his all, and ended with an amazing record.
Miss ya'll!
Blessings,
Julie
